It the brainchild of Debbie Hutchinson who has been in Bega for a year and realised that apart from markets there was no space for craftspeople to show and sell their wares.
So she made phone calls and advertised on Facebook for anyone interested to come and set up stall in Crafters’ Market.
She said the Bega Valley Shire Council had been very helpful and it wasn’t too long before craftpeople starting expressing their wish to be included.
The Crafters’ Market started last Saturday and will be open Mondays to Fridays 11am to 3.30pm and on Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm.
There’s all sorts of works on display - mosaics, greeting cards, t-shirts with individual artwork, candles, handmade soap, knitted toys, sewing goods, lead lighting, pottery, Japanese handicrafts, some very striking sculptures and much, much more.
Ms Richardson said she hoped more craftspeople will come and display and sell their wares at the market and they can contact her there.
