On June 21 some local community members took matters into their own hands, and cleaned up the garden.
The area has now been weeded and summer bulbs planted, however the area could do with some mulch.
The community members are calling for donations to improve the memorial, such as more bulbs and mulch.
The Bega Valley Shire Council hadn’t responded to media requests by the time of going to print.
The memorial garden is located at Columbine Memorial Park, on the corner of East St and Rawlinson St, Bega.
