“We have done a heap of planting, and need to do some maintenance around the plants,” BRAWL community coordinator Vickie Goldsmith said.
In 2008, BRAWL wrote a master plan for Spenco Lagoon with the goal to create a pedestrian path connecting the Bega CBD and the Bega River.
The path will start where the avenue of plane trees are on Gipps St and skirt around the lagoon to finish at the river.
Since 2006, BRAWL has planted over 4000 native plants around Spenco Lagoon.
Many of these are species considered rare or threatened and they form an important part of re-creating a healthy ecosystem - as well as something beautiful for the pedestrian path to meander through.
For the working bee bring gloves, your favourite weeding tool, morning tea to share and water.
Wear a hat, protective shoes and safe clothing.
It will take place on Monday, from 9.30am until 12.30pm, with a break for morning tea.
Spenco Lagoon can be reached by parking your car in the reserve near the Bega River anabranch, then cross Bridge St and enter the gate, follow the anabranch around and cross a small bridge.
Look for the signs, and if you are in need of more directions contact Ms Goldsmith on 0411 392 333.
Anyone is welcome to join in BRAWL activities, and members can keep up to date at the BRAWL Facebook page.
