David Neyle of Lightship People Systems donated a large screen TV to the PCYC.
“It’s in recognition of the good work they are doing for the community,” Mr Neyle said.
“It’s intended to be used for educational purposes.”
Mr Neyle thought instead of putting this device in landfill he could fix it and give it to the PCYC, as he fixes televisions for a hobby.
It will be used by the both the PCYC and the Bega Valley Youth Council as they both share the room on Gipps St.
Senior Constable with Youth Command/PCYC John Smith also talked about the recent activities the PCYC has initiated.
Boxing for Fitness classes now take place at both Bega and Eden High Schools.
Constable Smith said the classes involve getting the kids exercise by boxing in the morning, and then taking them to the home-economic rooms to cook breakfast.
“Then they are lifted and ready to go for the day,” Senior Constable Smith said.
It is a school-owned program, facilitated by NSW Police and run by the PCYC.
The PCYC is also in the process of setting up a drop-in centre at the Bega Showground, to help disengaged kids in the area.
After the school holidays they will also run Boxing for Fitness classes at the showground as well as after-hours activities.
If members of the community wish to assist the PCYC with its work in whatever way they can, Senior Constable Smith encouraged them to contact him on 0478 118 731.
