The logo, an evolution of the familiar mountains to the sea theme, will be slowly rolled out as and when needed, resulting in a cost neutral implementation.
Mayor Bill Taylor said the design of the new logo leads a move towards a fresh new look for Bega Valley Shire Council’s branding, documentation and signage.
“Council’s website, for example, is being redesigned from the ground up to provide the community with easier access to information and an improved experience when browsing through its pages.
“We have worked towards creating a new organisational look that is friendly, approachable and professional, and feedback so far has certainly indicated that we’re heading in the right direction.
“We of course realise that an approachable and professional brand needs to be reflected in our day-to-day actions, and with a communications and engagement review and reference group both about to commence it shows that we are serious about developing a productive relationship with the community.
“Designers were asked to develop an evolution of the old logo, providing a modernised look whilst maintaining the important ‘mountains to the sea’ theme.
“Getting our logo, and subsequently our entire look just right is very important as this is the look and feel that first greets people when reading our signage, thumbing through our reports, and browsing pages on our website. It provides that all important first impression, and it influences the way we are professionally and publically perceived.
“We understand that rolling out a new logo with the intention of immediately replacing all examples of the former logo would be a very expensive operation, so through developing an evolved logo we are choosing instead to introduce it gradually as and when items are due for renewal,” Cr Taylor said.
