The Bega Devils will be using a divide and conquer approach.
The reserves and ladies take on the Bemboka Braves at Bemboka.
Meanwhile, the under 12s, 14s, 16s and seniors will play the Penguins at Pambula.
The Devils have had an overwhelming number of registrations for this year’s competition.
If any players are injured or have other commitments the club has plenty of support to back up.
Meanwhile, the Penguins are a strong force in the three major grades.
It will take a few weeks of competition for all the clubs to work out the kinks and regather momentum, but expect first round matches to be tightly contested.
The senior Devils are on a premiership streak and will rely on its strong core of experienced players.
The senior Devils are likely to pluck a narrow victory over Pambula, while the Penguinettes could get one up on the Devils’ ladies.
The Wolumla Tigers on the other hand will play host to Tathra across the major grades on Sunday.
Tathra has struggled for numbers over the last couple of years and it is great to see a full contingent back in the competition.
Meanwhile, the Tigers and Tigresses have undergone a changing of the guard with swaps in coaches and playing rosters.
The Tigers have kept key playing combinations, while Tathra might take some time to work out its formation on the field.
A solid training during the off-season will see the returning Tathra teams in good form, but Wolumla can work its combinations well.
The Tigers might pick up a slight lead to bag the points on Sunday.
Bega’s reserves play at 11.40am at Bemboka, with the ladies to start at 1pm.
Reserves start at 11.40am in Wolumla with the ladies and first grade games after.
