The exhibition, sponsored by Southern Women’s Group (SWG) and Women’s Resource Centre (WRC), features the work of more than 25 local women of all ages.
It opens on Friday at 5pm and continues until March 19.
A variety of artwork is on display including paintings, drawings, printing, textiles, jewellery, sculpture, woodwork and collage.
One of the most colourful and different works of art on display is a collection of masks, created at the WRC in a group workshop.
Each year around the world, IWD is celebrated on March 8.
Thousands of events occur not just on this day, but throughout March to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women.
Bega WRC coordinator Gabrielle Powell said IWD celebrates the social, political and economic achievements of women while focusing world attention on areas requiring further action.
She said the theme “Inspiring Change” encourages advocacy for women's advancement everywhere in every way.
It calls for challenging the status quo for women's equality and vigilance inspiring positive change.
SWG is in its 26th year of incorporation in the Bega Valley and has inspired many women to seek help, gain support or just connect with other women.
It is a public benevolent institution and an authorised charity and its work supports individual and community development.
SWG has a rich history of establishing and operating services and activities supporting women, families, and the local community, Ms Powell said.
She added the public can support and help SWG and Bega WRC continue this great work by visiting the website www.givenow.com.au/southernwomensgroup.
Ms Powell said IWD is a chance to rejoice in women's contribution to making Australia and the Bega Valley Shire a better place for everyone.
“It recognises that we, as women, have made and continue to make a difference,” she said.
“We hope all women and children will come along and join in the celebrations.”
The exhibition will have a people’s choice prize, sponsored by South East Women’s and Children’s Service, so make sure you cast your vote.
