Attendees included Bega’s Kirsty Umbers, Tammy Prime and Mark Allman, who are driving forces behind a campaign for park suitable for children in town.
The campaign started on Facebook, where a page called “Bega Needs A Family Friendly Park” has been established.
The page has gathered over 150 members.
Key issues raised at Friday’s meeting included the need for shade, toilet facilities, disabled access, fencing and variety in equipment.
Conjecture remains over where the park should be located, but Ms Umbers said the group was more than willing to work with Bega Valley Shire Council.
However, the general consensus on Friday was “if we get it done, let’s get it done properly”.
Attendee Rod McDonald agreed, saying “you can put it anywhere but at the end of day if the facilities aren’t good, you’re not going to go”.
The next step for the group will be to approach the council’s group manager of infrastructure, waste and water Wayne Sartori for an official meeting.
