Twenty-eight “Kindies” enjoyed their first day at Tathra Public School on Thursday.
First-time pupils Lani Child and Ashlee Meaker were among those excited about starting school.
Lani is the oldest of her siblings and the first to attend primary school.
Lani said she has a couple of basic aims in 2014.
“I am making new friends and I’m excited about learning things,” she said.
“I came here to make buddies.”
Ashlee said she had enjoyed her first day at school.
“I can’t wait to read, I have never read before.”
Ashlee’s older sister, Samantha Meaker, has just started Year 3 at Tathra Public School.
“Samantha will help me learn stuff,” Ashlee said.
Tathra Public School principal Graham Roberts said he was proud to welcome the new Kindergarten pupils.
“We have been looking forward to having a brand new group of Kindergartners in the school,” Mr Roberts said.
“The other students are very excited about Kindies coming in – they will form strong relationships in this school.
“They can look forward to sharing their Tathra school experience.”
The new pupils have been split into two classes – a Kindergarten and a composite Kindergarten/Year 1.
They will be taught by Lee Robson and Molly Lehane.
