The Tathra Wharf to Waves will be held this weekend and the main event, the 1200m Finns Pest Control Splash for Cash, has received great support.
Organising committee member Linda Badewitz-Dodd said over 100 swimmers had already signed up for the Splash for Cash.
Badewitz-Dodd said organisers would consider extending the number of entries available to 150 in this race.
“The numbers are fairly good at the moment,” she said.
The 2014 Wharf to Waves begins tomorrow and will conclude on Sunday.
Online entries closed at midnight on Wednesday, but participants will have an opportunity to register for the swimming, fun run and bike events.
People can still enter by visiting the Tathra Surf Life Saving Club today and tomorrow until 6pm.
Those wishing to register for a swimming event may do so on Sunday morning, but they will incur a late fee.
The Wharf to Waves action will start at 2.30pm tomorrow with the Coastlife Tathra Beach 2km Fun Run.
Registrations will remain open at the surf club from noon until 2pm tomorrow.
The run starts just north of the Tathra Beach Country Club and finishes in front of the Tathra surf club.
At 5pm, the bike ride will begin for mountain biking enthusiasts.
Participants will leave the Tarraganda fire shed and travel over Dr George Mountain to Tathra.
Registrations will be taken at the fire shed from 3-4.30pm tomorrow.
Transport for people and their bikes from the surf club is available and costs $20 from Tathra Beach and Bike.
Splash for Cash sponsor, Finns Pest Control’s Andrew Warby, said mountain bike riding was an essential part of the Wharf to Waves.
Warby said it was good to see so many bikes on tracks around Tathra, adding that industry is “bringing tourists to town”.
All swimming events will be held from 8.30am on Sunday, starting with the 600m age division races.
Competitors from 10 years of age through to 70-plus can take part in the 600m age swims.
The main race, the 1200m Finns Pest Control Splash for Cash, will begin at 11.30am.
The Splash for Cash is open to competitors over 12 years of age.
All swimming race winners will be given a specially designed Wharf to Waves towel for their efforts.
The Tathra Public School P&C committee will run a market day on Sunday from 8am until 2pm.
