Boasting two water slides, five water cannons, an enormous six-metre tall tipping bucket, aqua domes and more than 35 interactive play features surrounded by a 250sqm lagoon, the Sapphire Soaker is the biggest of its kind in the region.
It will be open to Discovery Holiday Parks’ guests as well as the general public.
To celebrate the occasion, on Thursday Discovery Holiday Parks is offering locals the opportunity to be among the first to be drenched by the Sapphire Soaker, along with a host of activities for families of all shapes and sizes.
The event will see the Pambula Beach park transformed into a family fair with market stalls, face painting, balloon giveaways, fairy floss, as well as the popular park jumping pillow and playground.
Local Nippers from the Pambula Surf Life Saving Club, proudly sponsored by Discovery Holiday Parks, will be the first to experience the new water park before the official opening by Sandy Lockhart, chairman of Discovery Holiday Parks.
The Pambula Fire Brigade will be in attendance with water cannons at the ready to cool down the masses, and the local Rotary Club of Pambula will provide a free sausage sizzle.
“We’re so excited to celebrate the opening of the Sapphire Soaker after the massive amount of community support we’ve received since we began construction three months ago,” park manager Laurie O’Shea said
“Our Facebook page has been inundated with posts from locals and regular guests and we have almost reached our capacity for accommodation over the summer period, with bookings having increased by 15 per cent.
“We have a very close relationship with the local Pambula community, with the company having owned the park for seven years now.
“We are very proud of our partnership with the Pambula Surf Life Saving Club and we are thrilled to offer the little Nippers the experience of being the first to be drenched by the Sapphire Soaker,” Mr O’Shea said.
Locals are also invited to enjoy the Sapphire Soaker before the park’s busy holiday season starting on Christmas Day, with day passes available for $15 per person.
The launch event will be held from on Thursday from 3-7.30pm at Discovery Holiday Parks, Pambula Beach (1 Pambula Beach Rd).
