Cousins James Bower-Scott and Marty Scott will head to Europe in November as part of the under 16s Aboriginal Achievers tour.
The tour is open to NSW players and the group will travel through France, Spain and England.
Highlights of the trip will include playing in a curtain-raiser at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
James and Marty, both 16, gained selection after impressing at a three-day rugby league camp in Redfern last November.
The pair were given the opportunity to be mentored by Australian legend Laurie Daley (BDN, 16/11/12).
“It was good to be invited to that – we were the only boys there from this area,” James said.
James said the duo were “pretty excited” to be selected for the tour.
“This is the first time they have taken a Koori side over and that makes it extra special,” he said.
The under 16 Aboriginal Achievers team will arrive in Barcelona, Spain on November 8.
During their stay in Spain, James and Marty are looking forward to attending the Rugby League World Cup.
The team will play in a curtain-raiser to the France versus Samoa contest at Perpignan on November 11.
“It will be awesome to go to the World Cup,” Marty said.
Part two of the tour sees the squad move to France.
As well as playing matches, the side will visit Carcassone, Medi City, Paris, Lille and Euro Disney.
The journey will finish in England from November 18, with stops including York, London and watching the World Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium.
The group will return to Australia on November 25.
James and Marty have to pay their own way to take part in the Aboriginal Achievers tour, which is expected to cost over $4000 per player.
In the lead up, the pair will work with the Bega Roosters Minor Rugby League Football Club to organise fundraisers.
Marty has represented the Roosters since the under 9s division, while James started with the under 11s.
They will both play for Bega’s under 16s side in 2013.
James said he loves “everything” about rugby league, while Marty enjoys the friendship, on and off the field.
