At present there is no dental service for the Tibetan people in Pokhara Valley where there are four Tibetan refugee camps comprising about 4,000 people, or for their Nepalese neighbours in the villages of Hyangja and Sarangkot.
The dental health of these people is appalling, with consequent medical implications, Dr Wong said.
He will spend 12 days in the camps, accompanied by a local volunteer, Danielle Angove.
Last Friday he received a donation of $1,000 from the Bega Rotary Club, but he says he needs $1,000 more and anyone who would like to contribute can contact him at the Bega Dental Practice in Carp Street, Bega, or phone 6492 5150.
