Manly officials have confirmed that star fullback Brett Stewart was arrested last month over an altercation. A police spokesperson said at about 1.15 am on Saturday, January 19 police attended a licenced premises at The Corso in Manly. ‘‘Officers were told an altercation occurred between two men age 21 and 27,’’ she said. ‘‘The 27-year old man was arrested and taken to Manly police station where he was released pending a further investigation,’’ she said. The investigation into the incident has concluded. ‘‘No offences have been detected and police will take no further action,’’ she said. The police said they issued an infringement notice to the 21-year-old for an "excluded person return to licensed premises", with instructions not to return to The Corso. Meanwhile, Manly officials are hopeful Brett's brother and Test back-rower Glenn Stewart will miss just the opening six rounds of the NRL season due to ongoing concerns with his left knee. Glenn Stewart underwent off-season surgery to clean up some cartilage in the troublesome joint, having undergone similar surgery last off-season. with Ilya Gridneff and AAP
