This weekends stage was set for a massive clash of the titans in the Group 16 All Stars vs Indigenous All Stars Game.

However, with the torrential downpour the region has experienced in the past few days the anticipated event will no longer go ahead.
This is a gut-punch for both players and fans as it would have been the perfect way to usher in the 2022 season, but mother nature remains undefeated.
The event which was scheduled for Saturday at Mackay Park, and was set to be a day of cultural appreciation and celebration accompanied by a back drop of hard nosed footy.
The All Star match in the past has brought players from all across the region to Batemans Bay, with representation from Cooma, Bega, Merimbula, Tathra and the Snowy River.
Off the back of a tumultuous 2021 season, it appeared to be the best way to start what would hopefully be a full season.
What does this mean for the rest of the season? Well hopefully this weather cancellation is an outlier and we can continue to look forward to finally a full season of Group 16 rugby league.
While the game would have been a nice sneak preview for the talent to watch for this season, the boys and girls will have to wait until they get on the field in round one to find out who to watch out for.
