It is understood to be a big job to assess all the damage and council is trying to get a comprehensive view of the situation.
At the Merimbula Wharf one of the ladders had been torn out of its fixtures from the pylons and the wharf itself remains closed.
Sally Daly owner of the Wharf Restaurant and Aquarium, with husband Anthony, said some of the waves were bigger than she had seen before.
"On Saturday night the waves were over the rock wall (situated on the right as you drive into the lower car park). I've been here 21 years and never seen it like that before," Ms Daly said.
"I've seen some wild seas but the volume of water was incredible," she added.
At Merimbula Main Beach the surf continues to encroach on the beach with debris left behind right up to the vegetated sand dunes.
At Pambula Beach, once again the accessible path has suffered damage from the wild weather with several sections torn away and a drop of about half a metre after erosion from the weekend tides.
Council said it was inspecting and assessing all affected coastal infrastructure following the extreme weather events over the weekend.
"At present, Tathra Wharf is open with access via the public toilet ramp. Minor damage to one of the wharf piles will be repaired and cleaning of the debris on the vehicle access side will commence today. Parking will be restricted to within 50m of the wharf to allow staff and machinery access to the site for clean-up," council said.
"Tathra headland walk has received significant damage and will remain closed between the viewing platform and Tathra Wharf while crews clean up and assess the damage."
Merimbula Wharf is open. Damage to one of the ladders requires repairs and reinstatement and a temporary barricade has been installed, council said.
An assessment of all affected coastal bridges, including Cuttagee is being carried out.
In Merimbula's Lake St vegetation, drainage, and minor road maintenance will be carried out by local contractors from Wyeebo Street to the Merimbula Ocean Wharf from April 4-8 (weather permitting).
There has been ongoing work being carried out close to the new walkway following road erosion from earlier rains.
There will be single lane closures in place between 7am and 5pm and these will move along the work zone as the works progress, council said.
Traffic control will be in place for the duration of the works.
