Bega Squash Club announced the winners of its 2021 Special Awards at a presentation dinner held at Bega Country Club recently
The winner of the Peter Eaton Consistency Memorial Award was Keri Blacker.
This annual award is presented to a player who entered all comps in a year, played every match (ie had no subs) and consistently achieved results matching their graded spot.
They also have to have the "Peter Eaton factors" - desire to win, good sportsmanship, team player, support for the team, club and squash in general.
Keri's husband Robert was the inaugural winner 21 years ago, showing the Blacker family commitment to the Bega club and the sport of squash.

Winner of the Most Improved player award was Kallen Coady.
Kallen started the 2021 year as a B1 and was promoted to A2 for the last 2021 comp - a jump of 14 graded places. Kallen finished strongly at A2 winning all his matches.
Kallen's older brother Aiden was most improved in 2016.
In the 39 years this award has been presented, this was the first time two members of the same family have achieved this recognition.
Both Aiden and Kallen have been awarded best junior boy showing how important the junior comp is to the future of the club
The winner of the 2021 Club Person of the Year was Peter Bolst.
Peter has the honour of having the most votes from fellow members for this award on six occasions!
Peter works on grading and compiling the draw. He also runs the club championships and can be seen at the courts most nights making sure the competitions run smoothly.

Cleo Stylianou and Rob Simic were both very close to Peter in the voting count this year.
Rob, who joined the club a few years, ago has helped with tournaments, maintenance and coaching of juniors.
Cleo, who came up via the club's junior ranks, still helps with juniors, general committee work and stepped up to take on the role of club secretary last year.
Cleo was also in contention for the Peter Eaton Memorial Award this year and was runner up in the Club Person voting in 2020.
Bega Squash Club said it was successful because of the commitment from players like Peter, Rob, Cleo, all the committee members and those who pitch in to help run tournaments and social events.
