Eden suffered some early pain with Drew Mudaliar, Matt Bell and Rahul Mudaliar all dismissed in the opening two overs with just a single run on the tally.
The Reds rallied through the middle order and battled to a valiant target of 96 runs before lightning storms descended on Bega's George Griffin Oval following an afternoon of sweltering heat.
Unfortunately in what has been a common theme this season the weather Gods had other ideas and as the players were exiting the field at the conclusion of the Eden innings a large bolt of lightning was immediately followed up with a roar of thunder. The next hour was spent watching the sky threaten, but never deliver any rain and players measure the time between lightening strike and thunder clap with the concentration of an Olympic sprint timekeeper.
Despite the proclamations of some amateur (and as it turned out, not very proficient) meteorologists that the storm would pass and play would be able to resume the Umpires and Captains agreed to call the game off at 6.35pm.
In what was a pretty unsatisfactory result to a very interrupted season Bega Angledale and Eden were awarded joint Premiers of the Club Bega Twenty 20 competition.
Two semi-final clashes had gone ahead just hours before also in the staggering heat.
Despite the heat, the Bulls had completed some heroics to overcome the run chase set by the Pambula Bluedogs to earn their spot in the grand final.
After a slow start the club needed almost nine runs an over to keep pace with the target of 118 the Bluedogs had set, but the tempo built for the club at Roy Howard Oval.
They needed almost 30 runs in the final two overs, but belted about 20 runs in the penultimate over to finish at 8/119 with four balls in hand.
Riley Wilcox had provided some explosive play for the Bulls, securing a hat-trick with the ball, before also taking the three early wickets in the grand final.
Cody Hazelgrove-Danvers had led the run rate for Bega-Angledale, hitting 39 not out after earlier having to come off the field ill from the heat.
In the other semi-final, Eden's openers had laid the foundation for a 14-run win over the Tathra Sea Eagles with the father-son pairing of Drew (19) and Rahul Mudaliar (23) partnering for 47 runs.
Tim Bowes and Mark Spink had almost put a further 60 on the board before their dismissals for 34 and 25 respectively.
A handful of wickets and the bottom order were done in cheaply with David Shane leading the wicket tally for Tathra with four to his name as Eden wrapped up the innings for 129 runs.
Tathra batted the full 20 overs and fell 14 short at 6/115 with a 53 from captain Shannon Grass setting the stage for Tathra's challenge.
Tom Taylor had provided 11 to the tally, while Jack McMahon was on 18 not-out when the Sea Eagles ran short of overs to continue the pursuit.
In the B grade grand final, the Tathra Sea Eagles came out on top over Eden with Anthony McMahon and Justin Roscoe combining well at the crease to finish on 33 and 20 not-out respectively.
It helped the Sea Eagles to 2/86 to chase down the modest target set by Eden with six overs in hand.
The FSCCA Executive would like to thank the umpires and scorers; staff at Bega Valley Shire Council, Glenn at Bega Valley Public School and the volunteers who prepared the pitch and grounds for presenting three grounds in such good condition for the full day of cricket.
All FSCCA competitions will break for Christmas before a return on Saturday 22 January. Senior competitions will revert to a one day competition after Christmas with eight teams entered into the Club Bega A Grade Competition; 6 teams in the Campbell Petroleum B Grade Competition and four teams in the Club Bega C Grade competition.
