The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to be the wettest days as rain clouds spread across the state.
The Illawarra is expecting around 50mm to 75mm of rain but the highest rainfall is predicted to occur south of Shellharbour.
On Wednesday there is a 90 per cent chance of showers, most likely in the late afternoon and evening with thunderstorms a possibility further inland.
On Thursday there is a 95 per cent chance of rain with heavy falls possible.
And on Friday there is a 90 per cent chance of rain.
