Bermagui was among several towns and cities around Australia to host a rally under the banner of "Millions March Against Mandatory Vaccines".

Despite the peaceful nature of the "Freedom Walk", those attending are being accused of trampling the war memorial flower beds and traipsing mud through the memorial itself.

Honorary secretary of the Bermagui RSL Roy Davies OAM said it was "reprehensible, disrespectful, and inexcusable" behaviour.

"The memorial recognises the sacrifice and service given by the citizens of Bermagui and the surrounding communities," he said.

"The Memorial is a commemorative shrine intended to remind us of the people who served in and died as a result of war. It links us to the past and to the present by remembering those who made a sacrifice to Australia, who died, fought, participated, and still suffer from its effects - not a place for a selfish group of people who have no regard or respect for those Australians who enabled their right and their freedom to demonstrate."

Mr Davies received his OAM in for designing and overseeing the construction of the memorial in 2008. The Bermagui RSL sub-branch supported and funded the replacement of the old memorial.

"The community, following consultation, supported and gave permission to build the Memorial, but who gave these people permission to hold their demonstration at The Bermagui War Memorial, to tread and walk all over the flower beds, stand on memorial chairs and tread mud all through the interior of the memorial?

"There were plenty of other places to meet along the foreshore, so why the memorial?

"The Bermagui sub-branch are custodians of the memorial, and a small group of dedicated members care for and clean it. Will members of this disrespectful mob assist with the cleaning up of their mess?

"It is apparent they have no respect for the Bermagui community's loss of loved ones or for those brave service personnel who served in all wars to safeguard and ensure the democratic rights and freedoms that all Australians enjoy."

A spokesperson behind several recent rallies in the region said Saturday's event acknowledged service personnel from the outset and those in attendance "are only carrying on from where they left off".
