The volunteers have a working bee each month for nine months of the year and cover an area stretching from south of Kianinny, north to the Bega river, west to Blackfellows Lagoon, and south to the water tower on Thompsons Road.
TLC issues a newsletter every three months and keeps in contact with all 25 volunteers by phone each month. It has been doing so for 30 years with its dedicated members.
Bitou bush is still found every year, but not a lot. Some areas TLC work on have none, but they still look because it can pop up anywhere.
This year TLC has found 113 bitou over the nine working bees. When bitou is located, it is dug it out and placed so it cannot continue to grow.
It's not just bitou found on the TLC working bees, other weeds are also removed, mainly garden escapees such as asparagus fern, bridal creeper and polygala.
TLC will resume working bees next March on Clean Up Australia Day, which will be advertised in the BDN. If you are interested you will be welcome to come along.
