Sally-Anne Brown, 62, faced Bega Local Court on Tuesday, November 23, on a number of charges relating to an Extinction Rebellion protest that blocked logging trucks from entering the Eden chip mill on October 14, 2021.
The charges include join or continue in unlawful assembly; obstruct a pathway used by pedestrians or drivers; failure to leave an area after being requested by an authorised officer; and refuse and fail to comply with direction.
Ms Brown's bail was continued, with a requirement to report to Bega Police Station once a week.
The matter was adjourned until December 8 at Eden Local Court to allow the defendant to receive independent legal advice.
The court heard on Tuesday from legal representative Tony Cullinan that she would also be required to attend Newcastle Local Court the next day, December 9, for mention of a separate matter of a similar nature.
Mr Cullinan attempted to persuade Magistrate Doug Dick to move the Eden Local Court matter to another date due to the long distance Ms Brown would be required to travel.
Magistrate Dick was unsympathetic to the request, but said he would try to ensure the matter in front of Eden Local Court would be seen as early as possible on the morning of December 8.
