I do not want to go to Tura or elsewhere to recycle my cans and bottles. It would cost more in petrol. It was very convenient where it was, it needs to be local. Corny is a local legend who daily collects the cans and bottles with his large bin. Always happy to collect them in all weather day or night.

I am a pensioner too so it was a bit of money for me as well. It was helping people recycle as well which is what we are suppose to be all about.

Not impressed
I was surprised and not impressed by Woolies' sudden decision to remove this great community and environmental facility. The location was not ideal granted, but had been functioning for years. Where is Woolies' commitment to local community and environmental issues? Let's hope the council will do the right thing and find a new location promptly.

Backwards step
The removal of the reverse vending machine is a disgrace. I have been told that Bega is a very green area, but this seems to be a backward step.

Better location needed
We are residents of the Bega Valley and used that machine often. How about moving it to the Coles site, right up in the back corner of carpark. That way, we can get vouchers for Coles to spend. It wasn't a very user friendly location, always being wet, so a good move!

Disappointing decision
My grandson collects bottles to recycle and is very disappointed that he can no longer do it in Bega. He has no way of getting to Tura or Bermagui. Please make sure there's one soon in Bega.

Facts or fear?
The flip side to the COVID vaccination mandate is freedom of choice. Australia, until recently, gave its citizens freedom of choice of medical procedures. Australian citizens could choose which doctor to see, which treatment and procedure to have and which medicine to put in their body.
No Australian should ever be coerced or forced to undergo any medical procedure. The Australian Immunisation Handbook states this in the Valid Consent section "It (a vaccine) must be given voluntarily in the absence of undue pressure, coercion or manipulation". Mandating vaccines of any type fails this directive.
More people die in Australia from car accidents than COVID, from heart disease, from dementia and from accidental deaths due to falls. (Australian Bureau of Statistics, Causes of Deaths 2021). The predicted thousands of cases and streets full of bodies after Sydney's lockdown ended has not happened.
Since March 2021, 4% of all COVID cases in NSW are double vaccinated and from June 16 to September 21 2021, 1.9% of the ICU cases were double vaccinated. The chances of a double vaccinated person being infected and threatened by an unvaccinated person (who are less than 10% of the population) is very small. The facts support this. There is still mask wearing and social distancing for protection too. Another interesting fact is that the average age of death from/with COVID (86 years) is higher than the average life expectancy in Australia (82.8years).
The reason for the vaccine is to provide protection and the government's own health figures above support this. Australians need to trust the facts, not the fear that is often reported. The small number of unvaccinated people in Australia pose no significant threat to most people.
Not all unvaccinated people break the rules. In fact, at the moment, they can not go anywhere to mix with the vaccinated (except for the supermarkets and petrol stations). When they can, vaccinations will be over 90% and the unvaccinated will pose very little threat. Trust the facts, not the fear.
