Janice Louise Denny, also known as Janice Northey, is charged with two counts of failing to provide proper and sufficient food to an animal and four counts of being in charge of an animal and failing to provide vet treatment over alleged incidents at properties in Tantawangalo, Wolumla, and Candelo in September, 2020.
She has pleaded not guilty to all six charges.
During the first day of her hearing at Bega Local Court before Magistrate Doug Dick, Ms Denny's lawyer Peter Naughtin requested to withdraw from the matter due to "expressions of frustrations building", a request approved by Magistrate Dick.
Ms Denny applied to have the matter adjourned as she no longer had appropriate legal aid.
She said she required more time to deliver subpoenas and gather documentation to support her case to appropriately self-represent.
"I can't deal with these things or the constraints of the court," she said.
She also told Magistrate Dick her previous legal team had received all appropriate documentation, but claimed her matter wasn't dealt with appropriately and that her lawyers "wanted to throw the book at me".
However, Magistrate Dick denied Ms Denny's request, saying she was the "author of her own misfortunes" based on emails sent to the court by Mr Naughtin.
"The case has already been in court several times," Magistrate Dick said.
"I can't justify another adjournment."
Magistrate Dick also said Ms Denny had two non appearances on the matter.
Her hearing continued on Wednesday, September 29.
