As more COVID-19 exposure venues are released by NSW Health, one group is taking matters into their own hands when it comes to assisting those who have to isolate.

The COVID-19 Information for the Eurobodalla was started to keep people informed about new venues of concern in the shire, but group admin Nicole Evans quickly saw an extra opportunity to help out those in need.

"I was thinking as people are forced into isolation, if we have enough people we could get some meals and groceries delivered to them to help them out," she said.

"Our poor elderly are suffering enough as they can't have any visitors, maybe families with kids could draw pictures or write letters and we can get them out to them."

When the group reached 1000 members, Ms Evans called out for ideas for "COVID care packages" and they came through thick and fast.

"Australia Post have been issuing postcards with a no stamp charge. If you have had any given to you at the Post Office or put in your mailbox please use them. It can make someone's day," one group member commented.

"Baking a bit extra, putting in small snap lock bags and taking to the elderly in the neighbourhood. They love having a chat, socially distanced with mask on of course. Everyone can show a little bit of kindness," another group member said.

Ms Evans said anyone who wanted to get involved could join the Facebook group and send her a message.

"We do know people who are forced into isolation so a little package would brighten their day," she said.

"I really wanted to start this page so we could help each other out and keep informed.

"Just because there are negative things happening in town, we should get together and do positive things."

This week, Eurobodalla Council announced it would provide logistical support to Southern NSW Local Health District during the current outbreak of COVID-19.

Council General Manager Catherine Dale said the Community Services team would relieve clinical staff of the task of transporting essential care packages, including food and prescriptions, to COVID-impacted households.

"Our people are trained and trusted in the community, and it allows those clinical staff to be where they're most needed, providing healthcare," she said.

"We're also opening up one of our larger facilities in Batemans Bay for NSW Health to store those supplies.

"We have a number of staff on standby to assist NSW Health with contact tracing if required, and we're cooperating with NSW Health to extend sewerage detection beyond Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma to include all the shire's treatment plants at Tomakin, Tuross and Bodalla."
