The 34-year-old Canberran has been in Hong Kong getting more expert training in dance and vocals as her journey on The Voice has unfolded in Australia. Her time on the show actually finished back in March. She left for Hong Kong soon after.
Halimah made it to the finals of the singing competition but her coach Rita Ora in an episode this week chose not to take her further. Some fans wondered why Ora gave Halimah a musical theatre number to perform, This is Me, when she was trying to break out of her musical theatre background.
"I also wondered the same thing, to be honest," Halimah said, from Hong Kong on Friday.
"I was still happy with the choice but I know there was Love on the Brain by Rhianna that was on my option list so I wonder if she picked that instead my result would be different."
Halimah was ultimately glad she went on The Voice after working on musicals overseas.
"It is so different compared to performing on a contract show," she said.
"It really taught me how to deal with nerves and performance anxiety, learning how to perform for cameras rather than a theatre audience.
"I really enjoyed the TV industry side of things and from this I would like to get involved in more TV work. It was so nice for The Voice to provide an opportunity for all the artist to be able to perform and continue to work on our craft in this crazy pandemic."
Halimah says wants to extend herself but not leave musicals behind, hoping to perform in one in Australia.
"I want all my friends and family to be able to watch who haven't had the chance to travel across the globe to see me before," she said.
" After that, I'd like to move more commercially, look into a more 'pop' version of myself. Maybe get a role with Neighbours or Home and Away? That would awesome."

Perhaps also do a show in her hometown of Canberra.
"This is something I would love to do, " she said. "If someone is out there reading this, let me know if you have any ideas that we can work on together and put on a show that Canberra would enjoy."
And her tennis champ brother Nick Kyrgios is always in her corner, watching every episode of her on The Voice.
"She should be proud, she is super talented and I think doesn't get enough credit for all the work she has put in over the years," Nick said on Friday.
"But, If I were a judge I would have put her through for sure! I am excited for her, she deserves what hopefully comes her way."
