"It's really exciting to roll out 5G connectivity for the first time in Bermagui, meaning customers with Telstra 5G mobile devices can now enjoy a better mobile experience," said Chris Taylor, regional general manager for Telstra in NSW.
Mr Taylor said the 5G upgrade also brought added benefits for customers on the 4G network, with upgraded capacity meaning better connectivity and less congestion on the Telstra mobile network in these places when it's busier.
"We're continuing to expand our 5G network across New South Wales and nationally we're adding new sites to the network every week. Upgrades such as these continue to demonstrate Telstra's ongoing commitment to regional Australia," Mr Taylor said.
Other Telstra 5G enabled communities in the region include Narooma, Tathra, Bega, Moruya.
"For customers wishing to access 5G on the Telstra network, they will need a 5G capable device and have a Telstra 5G phone plan, so for some people, that may mean upgrading their current device," Mr Taylor said.
More information on Telstra's 5G coverage or devices available to use this new technology is available at Telstra stores or online at telstra.com/5G.
There are now more than 3700 Telstra 5G sites on-air in more than 200 cities and towns across Australia. More than 75 per cent of Australia's population now lives in Telstra's 5G footprint.
