Rob McCredie and Gabrielle Rose, co-artistic directors of Fling, have announced the recent appointment of two new dance development officers, Beth Lane and Patrick Meessmann, who have both recently moved from Melbourne.
Taking this role marks a return to the Valley for Meessmann, who grew up in the area and was an original member of the Fling company.
"I'm excited to be home, reconnect and give back to the community who supported me in pursuing my passion for the arts," he said.
Both Lane and Meessmann are passionate about encouraging people into movement and creativity, and believe in its capacity to provide health and wellbeing benefits for young and old.
Their role at Fling will see them working and creating with the youth companies, teaching community classes and building Fling's outreach programs across the region.
"It's an exciting time to be with Fling, as the company celebrates its 20th year," Meessmann said.
"There are so many phenomenal Fling alumni anchored throughout our creative industries in Australia and overseas. We are here to help develop a new generation of creative thinkers."
Both artists bring to the company a wealth of knowledge as performers, educators and creatives in Australia and overseas.
Between them, they've worked as independent artists, and for companies and institutions such as VCA/University of Melbourne, Opera Australia and the Australian Ballet Education Ensemble.
Lane has vast experience teaching and mentoring young artists alongside her own dancing and creating.
