Toroa Rapana's Mum Linda Walker created the design.
"The stingray/whai represents maneuveraabilty," Ms Walker said.
"There will be many different paths in life that you will need to take, and you need to make the journey worthwhile. It represents also a kaitiaki/guardian. watching over us."
"We felt this was fitting as our boys have left home and Bega has become their kaitiaki."
Ms Walker said she included a fern in the design to represent all of New Zealand, while the shoulders have the sign of the strength printed on them.
"You will notice that the left side of the stingray wraps around the jersey to the side/back. We also though that this was appropriate as like a guardian, that Bega has wrapped our boys with care and love," she said.
