A spokesperson from the BVIH said that those businesses who have already expressed their interest in the program have been largely focused around the idea of creating sustainable businesses, with a real focus around the idea of a circular economy for the Bega Valley.
Circularity means reusing and recycling resources, using intelligent design principles to make businesses work sustainable and efficient, and also disposing of waste resourcefully.
Any business operating within the Valley who are interested in the program are eligible to join the program and will also receive a 50% discount. The price for Bega businesses is $330 or $660 for businesses outside of the Shire.
The program will run for eight weeks in an online program designed to help businesses create innovative systems to improve the sustainability and circularity of their operation.
It also looks at new product development, customer discovery and improvement with sustainability in mind.
The businesses will be able to access an online workshop each Friday with a duration of three hours with experts in their fields.
Businesses are also expected to participate in two to three hours per week of self-paced learning.
The Activate program draws upon the Lean Start-up method which focuses on examining business proposals in an accelerated manner. The method involves experimentation, iterative product releases, and validated learning.
The workshops will be based on the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, start-up innovation, branding and pitching business ideas.
The program will commence on July 23.
Businesses can apply online.
