The Bega Dental Surgery and Laboratory recently donated $500 to the Tathra Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC).
The funds were put towards the purchase of an adjustable Dolphin surf ski, which was recently put to good use at the Far South Coast Branch Championships held at Tathra Beach.
There were also plans to use the ski at the NSW Interbranch Championships, which were to take place at Shelly Beach on the NSW Central Coast at the end of March.
Surf Life Saving NSW is made up of 11 branches and 40 competitors from each branch were due to compete at these interbranch championships. Unfortunately the event had to be cancelled due to the water quality following the floods north of Sydney.
Tathra SLSC representative Troy Burhop said the club had more than 30 members compete at the FSC Branch Championships.
It also had seven representatives selected in the FSC interbranch team.
"All members of the Tathra SLSC are extremely grateful for the generous donation made by Dr Arvind Chawla from the Bega Dental Surgery and Laboratory," Mr Burhop said
"One of the Dolphin surf skis features the logo of the Bega Dental Surgery and Laboratory. This is a great way of promoting such a valuable Bega business while supporting the activities of surf club members."
Dr Chawla is a member of the Bega Rotary Business Breakfast group, which meets monthly. This group provides the opportunity for members to network, promote their business and support local projects - all for the benefit of community.
