It may only be mid autumn, but winter is already on the way with parts of Tasmania experiencing snow on Saturday.
The Great Lake Hotel took to Facebook on Saturday to report the snow.
On Friday it was reported cold fronts were expected to cross the state on Saturday morning.
Meteorologist Michael Conway, of the Bureau of Meteorology, previously said the coldest air would arrive during Saturday afternoon with snow forecast at 600 metres in the west and south and 800 metres elsewhere.
Tasmania Police have also reported fallen trees on roads due to the wintery blast.
Areas with fallen trees include:
- Tasman Highway, Pyengana.
- Victoria Parade, Devonport.
- Paper Beach Road, Swan Point.
- East Tamar Highway, George Town.
- Retreat Road, Tunnel.
The cold weather is expected to continue until Sunday.
