The gloomy weather on Australia Day did anything but deter enthusiastic locals from taking part in the Merimbula float.

As the rain pattered down, locals gathered around the bridge in big numbers and each waited their turn to throw their choice of craft into the water and jump in after it.
A vast array of colourful devices floated towards Spencer Park including a rhinoceros, multiple flamingos, unicorns, an eggplant, and a seahorse among others.
The annual float continues to gain popularity - despite never being "officially" organised - and this could be seen on Tuesday as plenty were eager to join the flock of floaters drifting downstream, or watch from the shore.
