Held recently in Dubbo, the Thunder Pool for country regions in the state's south and west took in the best regional players across under 13s to under 15s.

Three Eden cricketers were chosen with Joey Elton and Xavier Bowes playing for the ACT/Southern under 15 Barons.

Meanwhile Rahul Mudaliar lined up for the ACT/Southern Kings outfit along with Bega-Angledale's Sam Lever.

Pambula young gun Bobby McAlpin lined up for the ACT/Southern under 14 Barons outfit.

The U15 Barons narrowly won the tournament by a mere bonus point from the Kings.

Xavier Bowes was appointed vice-captain of the Barons and had a good tournament opening the bowling for his side in the latter stages and taking economical wickets.

"Xav was presented with a set of pads used by Glenn Maxwell for his spirit and attitude throughout the carnival," a spokesman for the Eden club said.

"And Joey split his time opening the bowling while also getting a few top order bats."

For the Kings, Sam Lever and Rahul Mudaliar stamped themselves as two of the better bowlers in the district.

Sam demonstrated good skill and control with the ball to get eight wickets at an average of ten through the carnival. His best game was against Greater Southern where he picked up two for 22 off eight quality overs.

Rahul showed he is one of the quicker bowlers getting around extracting pace and bounce on the slow pitches. He finished with four wickets at 13 while also averaging 27 with the bat. His best was a fiery spell against Western when he knocked over their openers taking two for 12.

Bobby's Under 14 Barons also had a strong tournament finishing fourth in their pool.

Bobby batted in the top order for the Barons finishing with 48 runs for the carnival. His best score of 21 against Murrumbidgee.

"Full credit to all the players and parents for their commitment to the carnival stretching over the last month and clocking up thousands of kilometres," the spokesman said.
