Crew members from Navy's future replenishment ship, NUSHIP Supply, are spending the week in Eden and the wider Bega Valley to aid in recovery efforts.
Commanding Officer of NUSHIP Supply, Captain Ben Hissink said the return demonstrated the ADF's commitment to being ready and willing to serve Australians when called upon.
"Through Operation Bushfire Assist, the Australian Defence Force was able to work alongside Emergency Services to protect life and help Australians in need," Captain Hissink said.
"The assistance NUSHIP Supply crew are providing [in the Valley] follows through on work already undertaken, and enables Defence to help affected communities further."
HMAS Supply crew joined BlazeAid Cobargo to help with re-fencing efforts as well as aiding in the removal of ageing fencing around the Eden Cricket Ground.
The ground had been used as a critical emergency evacuation centre and was a staging point to aid around 6000 Victorian visitors stranded by the summer bushfires.
Executive Officer of NUSHIP Supply, Lieutenant Commander Peter Dargan said crew appreciated the opportunity to help and had been warmly welcomed by the community.
"The community have shown strength and resilience over the past year that mirrors the values Defence upholds," Lieutenant Commander Dargan said.
"We have been supported and welcomed by the local council and community in our endeavours so far, and look forward to continuing to build on these relationships."
