The Narooma band's song, "53 & 17", was shortlisted by a hand-picked panel of judges from MTV, Melbourne Music Week, DITTO Music and the Mushroom Group.
Their music video stars the band's guitarist Hayden Ryan, who currently lives in Melbourne, and Scarlet Carr, of Dalmeny, and was shot by RMIT University students and videographer Ben Schoonderbeek.
If Cuppa Shred win, they will be played on MTV, at Melbourne's Federation Square and in a live-streamed concert.
In lock down at Melbourne and with other band members scattered up the NSW South Coast, Mr Ryan said it had been difficult for the band to get together and write music.
"Luckily, I had all the time in the world to write on my own because I couldn't leave the house," Mr Ryan said.
"There are a few ideas I have brewing for when we can all get together again.
"We want to release more music - it's been nearly two years since our last single.
"Hopefully with the borders opening, I can come back to NSW and get together with the guys for some writing and recording."
A Fed Live spokesperson said this year's entrants were "mind blowingly good and shortlisting was difficult".
Voting closes December 7 and the overall winner will be announced December 8.
