Ms Abbott was recently presented a Premier's Award for Outstanding Community Service, which she described as "really humbling" and said she felt privileged to have the faith of the community to conduct the work.

But she said her husband Warren Abbott should also be acknowledged for his efforts as co-coordinator.

"When I saw the award the first thing I thought was Warren's name is not here!" she said.

"It's always been a team effort, so I accepted the award on behalf of him as well as myself and all the other people in the background too who have given a lot."

Ms Abbott said the centre offers a space for people to talk about any issues they are facing, then the centre can help put them in touch with other forms of support.

"People need some rebuilding as well," she said.

"We know a lot of people still have really hard days.

"But I think the measure of the effectiveness of the work we have been doing to connect them to people providing support, is how the down days are getting easier to come back from.

"That's what we can hope for now, and eventually, hopefully those days may not happen."

She said the centre hoped to obtain funding from Resilience NSW to run wellbeing activities and continue their focus on supporting people.
