In the interest of the health and safety of volunteers, competitors, the local community and economy, Tathra's popular Wharf2Waves ocean swim, beach run and bike riding event has been rescheduled until 2022.
Event organiser Jane Courtney said, "we all have a responsibility to our community to maintain zero COVID transmissions".
"If this event were to bring COVID into our community the ramifications for our community and local economy would be significant," Ms Courtney said.
"While we have largely escaped the pandemic in our area, there is always potential for it to come here and cause major disruption and damage to our community still recovering from the bushfires.
"After the fires and cancellation of the 2020 event we are all very keen to support our community and local economy and return this much-loved event to our community.
"However, the health and safety of competitors volunteers and community must be at the heart of our decision making."
