Police are reminding the community to stay safe ahead of the upcoming NSW school holidays.

Officers from South Coast Police District will be out and about during the holiday period, with a strong focus on ensuring the community remains safe on our roads.
South Coast Police District Commander, Acting Superintendent Ray Stynes said drivers need to follow the road rules to ensure everyone returns home safely.
"With school holidays approaching, I would like to remind the public to take care on our roads," Supt Stynes said.

"Wear a seatbelt, take regular breaks and don't get behind the wheel if you're under the influence of drugs or alcohol."
Acting Superintendent Stynes also reminded the community we are in extraordinary times, and these holidays may look a little different.
"I understand people are excited by the recent easing of restrictions, but I would like to stress that we are not out of the woods just yet," he said.
"We still need to be physical distancing, abiding by the COVID safe plans set by businesses and maintaining good hygiene.
"Our priority is the health and safety of the community, and anyone who chooses to do the wrong thing will come under the notice of police."
Some tips for avoiding driver fatigue:
- Before you drive, get a good night's sleep.
- Avoid driving at night, when your body will naturally want to sleep.
- Avoid long trips after a day of work.
- Take regular breaks.
- Share driving responsibilities.
- If you start feeling tired, pull over when it is safe to do so, and
- REMEMBER: Sleep is the only cure for tiredness.
