Through the Rotary Australia Benevolent Society grants program, the Bega, Merimbula and Pambula Rotary Clubs have been working together to provide relief following the bushfires as well as long-term drought.
"We have been identifying projects that have been helping the community such as delivering hay and fodder to farmers in need," Merimbula Rotary president Sue Jellis said.
"The combined Rotary Clubs have been working with our national contacts to organise fodder deliveries to 19 primary cattle producers across the Bega Valley - at no cost to the property owners.
"The clubs have also loaned three large generators to BlazeAid at Towamba and Bemboka and a third to a property near Wandalla," she said.
Sapphire Coast Rotarian Andy Thorp said they have also distributed shoe vouchers.
"I kept hearing that people wanted shoes, because all their shoes had been destroyed in the fires," Andy said.
"We spoke to the schools and asked them to identify students in need of shoes and have since given out 72 shoe vouchers.
"One of my most favourite moments arising from the fires was when the principal of Quaama Public School sent photos of the students with their new shoes on."
Sue said another initiative from Sapphire Coast Rotary is the distribution of toys donated by people from Canberra to fire-affected children in the Bega Valley.
A fund has been established by the three clubs to accept tax-deductible donations which will only be used for bushfire relief/recovery purposes in the Bega Valley Shire as determined by the three Rotary Clubs. Over the long term the clubs both jointly and individually will seek out projects to rebuild infrastructure, institutions and communities to adapt to changing climate patterns.
"We are always looking for something new to undertake," Andy said.
