Tathra's volunteer firefighting brigade has received a generous donation ahead of the upcoming bushfire season.

Kalaru resident Margaret Evans donated $535.05 to the town's NSW Rural Fire Service brigade over the weekend.
"Thank you to Margaret and supporters for assisting the brigade, which in turn assists the community. We are extremely appreciative," the brigade said.
A small group of fellow Kalaru residents joined in the handover of the funds, which were raised during an open garden event at Ms Evans' home.
Her garden has featured on national television after it was established by her late husband Norm in 1966.
A fundraising raffle was also held on the day, with the winner Ken Trevanion of Bega, taking home a hand-woven scarf made by Tathra resident Val Little.
Work is also continuing on the upgrade of the town's fire station, with Kaos Constructions leading work on a dedicated training and meeting room to go alongside internal refurbishments, including a kitchen and laundry.
