The matter of a financial review followed an extra-ordinary council meeting on July 13 called by Crs Robyn Bain and Mitchell Nadin after incorrect financial figures were presented on several occasions.
A motion by Crs Russell Fitzpatrick and Jo Dodds stated that council approach Mr Constance to request that the NSW Auditor General and the Office of Local Government fund a review of council's financial positions as at March 31, 2020 and June 30, 2020 and projected at June 30, 2021 particularly focusing on the restricted and unrestricted reserves and the cash position at each point in time.
ACM understands that further to the motion, there have been letters sent to the Office of Local Government and to Mr Constance signed by several councillors, expressing concerns over the figures and information given to councillors.
The meeting with Mr Constance is also likely to explore council's request for an extra $200,000 for the Merimbula basketball and netball courts so that the upgrade can be completed as planned.
