Police media said around 8.50am Friday morning, August 7, residents on Fulligans Road found what they believed was a hand grenade while cleaning out a shed on the property.
Local police investigated and determining it appeared a real grenade, called in the Army's Bomb Disposal Unit, who attended the property later Friday night after travelling from Sydney.
Bega District Chief Inspector Peter Volf said at 7.20am on Saturday, the Army personnel took the grenade to a property on Candelo-Bega Road, and destroyed it by way of explosive without any issues.
Stabbing plea
A Bega man accused of the stabbing murder of a man in Eden last year will enter a plea in the NSW Supreme Court in November.
Prosecutors allege Warren Anthony Scott, 37, murdered 49-year-old Edward Carter during an altercation at a home on Moorhead St at 3.30pm on April 4 last year.
On Friday, NSW Supreme Court Justice Robert Allan Hulme adjourned Scott's arraignment to allow his defence team time to seek reports from experts.
Scott will now face the NSW Supreme Court on Friday, November 6 via audio visual link.
