Stormbirds provides an opportunity for children and young people who have experienced a natural disaster to share their experiences of change and loss in safe and creative ways, understand and attend to their feelings, and learn skills for adapting and recovering.
Run by Good Grief, which is part of Mackillop Family Services, this is a small group educational program and takes place in an atmosphere of like-to-like peer support.
The one-day training for professionals is offered free of charge to areas of need after natural disaster.
It is available to teachers, professionals and volunteers, equipping them to facilitate the Stormbirds four-session program.
The training is being offered at St Patricks Primary School, Bega on August 11 from 9am-3pm.
