Lipsham said the club had put in solid work early in the pre-season through December and January, but had since been left to their own devices throughout the COVID-19 lockdowns.
However, he said after four weeks back into training both he and the team were thrilled to get back on the pitch and play footy.
"We all love our footy down here, it's pretty good for the community and its good for local businesses as well," Lipsham said.
"We've been doing our own thing for a few months so it's good to hook in and a social outlet for me and the boys too."
In a senior career spanning the best part of a decade, Lipsham said he wasn't reflecting too much an any of the high or low points since first pulling on the first grade jumper in 2011.
"I've had a couple of years off and I did my collar-bone at one point, I think I've been with the club for about 12 or 13 years all-in," he said.
Instead of dwelling on the past too much, he's just looking forward to a good contest at Narooma, a popular ground among SCAFL players.
"Narooma is a good place to play, we like going up there to play and we'll jump on the bus and make it a bit of a social thing," he said.
"I am pretty excited to play [the 100th], the boys will be behind me 100 per cent."
Lipsham said his love of the game had come from the enormous social outlet Aussie rules can provide, being part of the club environment and getting out to meet club supporters and other players.
"You get to meet a lot of people and I find that more enjoyable than sitting at home," he said.
But once the siren sounds though, it will be game time, he beamed.
"It's good to get out and be social, but also see the boys go their hardest on the field."
Now in his second year coaching, he said all teams across SCAFL were basically in the same boat of having a limited turnaround to match fitness as well as just two weeks of preparation for full contact.
"We obviously haven't done much contact because everyone is a bit green, it's been four weeks to get everyone fit and near game-ready, but everyone has been in the same boat.
"[For ourselves] we'll just take it one week at a time and by the end of the eight weeks see if the boys can reach the goals I'm hoping for."
All grades including seniors and juniors take to the field for the opening round of the shortened season this weekend, with Friday night games in Merimbula to be a feature for some as SCAFL looks to embrace the club's upgraded lighting.
Merimbula and Pambula will be the first to experience night fixtures on Friday, while the Sea Eagles head to Narooma to face the Lions on Saturday.
