Lowered expectations
Despite not living in this electorate anymore, the three candidates, Barilaro, Constance, and McBain certainly did not reassure me that the future was looking any brighter.

And now, whittled done to one, it has lowered the expectations of what this area could achieve under someone with vision.
With the calibre of people living in this electorate, surely there is a person/candidate who will speak up, out and for the protection of our natural environment, understanding that we are inherently dependent on it, and without it, we are nothing....the land, the plant kingdom, the animal kingdom, then us...not the other way around.
Mother Nature's trip wires are there to prevent wrong action...many look upon her mistreatment as, quite rightly, immoral.
But usually it is only when she responds with a vengeance, do us humans see the connection, grief and loss more clearly as to not what we had, but what we could have if we did things differently.
As John F Kennedy stated in his inaugural speech to the citizens of the United States in 1961, "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country".
It's the basis in which all societies can build on to become more cohesive, happier, and healthier, and where all participants feel a sense of belonging, hence empowerment, for their future.

Beggars belief
The local government minister Shelley Hancock has indicated that local councils will be able to further increase rates due to the impact of the coronavirus. It beggars belief that anyone could assert that local councils have been harder hit than their ratepayers during this pandemic and recent fire season.
The circumstance our council finds itself in (see audited finances) is purely of its own making. Cost shifting between levels of government, embarking on capital purchases and upgrades and providing services at a cost well in excess of general or user pay income are all circumstances the council either initiated or agreed too. It's time for people to protest the current level of rates and any further increases by contacted the local minister or councillors or an online campaign refusing to pay rates until the council engages with the community.

Eden complimented
Despite all the negativities of coronavirus, bushfires etc I compliment the people of Eden on how far the district and town has progressed over the past 62 years and admire how they weathered serious events such as the demise of the fishing and timber industries which affected the local economy drastically.
Despite current events the tourism upturn will come, the foresight in enlarging the whale museum has made it a national attraction, the bay cruises and the return of the whale population.
A great town and wonderful people past and present, I compliment all of you on your achievements.

Stamps request
In these restrictive times one needs to turn to indoor hobbies and pastimes to while away time usefully. I collect Australian, Great Britain, NZ and Malta stamps and I write to ask if any of your readers/local businesses and companies and so on have unwanted used stamps of these countries.
It would be greatly appreciated if you would publish my request in your local and regional newspapers. Any excess stamps received will be used for charitable organisations and local philatelic society. Thank you for your consideration and I wish everybody well at this very difficult time.
