So instead of just having a party he has launched a fundraiser for cancer support group CanTeen, for which he will cycle from Tathra's beach to its bottleshop, up the hairpin bend on Andy Poole Drive, 60 times.
In doing so he will ride about 80kms with 2735metres of climbing.
"I only thought of it on Sunday!" Mr Willis said.
"I just wanted to do something I'd always remember."
Even though the fundraiser has only been running for less than a week, the targets it has met have exceeded his expectations.
The original target was $600, but that was passed in three hours and on Wednesday morning the money raised was sitting around $2500 - well on the way to its latest target of $3000.
"People I don't even know are donating," Mr Willis said.
"It's amazing, considering how tough everybody is doing it at the moment."
He has a long connection with CanTeen, the support service for young cancer patients, young people struggling with the grief of losing a loved one, or who have a sibling or parent with cancer.
In 2000, he started the Bandanna Day Bike Ride which over the years raised $190,000 for CanTeen.
