They believe someone may have opportunistically taken Annie.
The springer spaniel was last seen down at Currambene Creek at the back of Paradise Pet Parks property on Tuesday afternoon, April 14.
READ MORE:
Annie was originally born as part of the NSW Police breeding program when Adam was the breeding manager there.
She was sold early as a pet because they had a surplus of dogs but not long after that Dave left the police and purchased Annie back.
Annie was then trained and became an explosive detection dog for a private company in 2014.
Then in 2018 she had a career change and helped rehabilitate other dogs at Paradise Pet Parks.
Unlike the other animals boarded at Paradise Pets, Annie is allowed to roam free on the property.
Dave said given Annie's background, training and nature the possibility of misadventure is "extremely unlikely".
"Particularly with the intensity of the search that's taken place and still yielded nothing," he said
"We're leaning more and more as time goes on that she may have been picked up opportunistically."
Dave, Ilse and the team are heartbroken but have been overwhelmed with the community support.
"There's a lot of people Annie endeared herself to, not just the staff but the customers and many, many dogs that she assisted in the rehabilitation of," Dave said.
"She's a very valuable member of our team and we were hoping, hoping that she's still alive and may just be sitting in someone's house, oblivious to everything.
"We're desperately looking for some sort of closure on the situation, whether we get Annie back or at least understand what may have happened to her."
