Under current Federal and NSW Government public health directions people are required to stay at home unless they have a "reasonable excuse". A reasonable excuse can be "exercise" or "fishing for food".
You may fish alone off the shore, with immediate family or one other person. If you do decide to go boating the same self isolation rules apply at all times including at the boat ramps and on the boat.
If you do decide you need to go boating, stick to your local waters. Visit the NSW Government website (nsw.gov.au) for regular updates.

The bar at Merimbula remains very shallow and one should take extreme care crossing in small craft during low tide. Marine Rescue Merimbula is restricted to heading out over the bar to 3 hours before high tide and 2 hours after. This has arisen due to a false channel developed past Mitchies Jetty spreading the current flow over a wide area and limiting the normal channel scouring near the navigation buoy. Incidents continue to be reported. We have been advised Crown Lands intends to undertake a hydrographic survey.
Australian salmon are saving the day for land based anglers with good catches from our headlands, beaches and jetties. They are reported thick off Tura Headland. Try Tura Beach at Dolphin Cove, Middle Beach, Haycock Beach as well as Aslings Beach at Eden.
Good land based fishing continues at Mogareeka where one can move around to get the best shelter from prevailing winds. On offer are bream, trevally and dusky flathead. Swarms of small bream make bait fishing difficult try soft plastics. Garfish have reported off the Kianinny jetty, you need to burley.
In the Merimbula channel down from the bridge tailor, trevally, dusky flathead the occasional flounder and bream remain on the chew. Fish from around the bridge, the Marina, the MBGLAC jetty and the Merimbula Wharf - abide by distance rules.
At the Merimbula Wharf small kingfish seen last week are now accompanied by some whoppers.
