The club was originally formed almost four years ago, changing its name from Verona Classics to Far South Coast Classics to acknowledge that its 100 or so members are located across both the Eurobodalla and Bega Valley shires.
In addition to members owning traditionally registered unique vehicles, the club presently has over 50 classic vehicles (which are over 30 years old) and registered under the NSW conditional registration scheme.
Members' vehicles include Mercedes, MGs, Porsche, Ford Mustang, Ford GT Falcons, Cortina and Ford Capris, a range of Holden F and H series utes station wagons, sedans and panel vans, Holden Monaro, LC and LH SLR Toranas, Chevrolet, Corvette, Chrysler Valiants, Jaguar, Studebaker, Morris and Volkswagen.
As has everyone on the NSW coast, members of the club have been affected by the fires of the last two months, some members losing homes, others outbuildings and some have lost their cars.
Club members have provided support for the evacuees at the Cobargo Showground, by delivering hay, by cooking at the army versus community touch football game, by securing donations and providing other help where needed.
Despite the ongoing challenge of the coronavirus and the restrictions that will be imposed, the club and its members would like to do more if possible to support local business and help those working towards disaster relief.
Regular excursions, displays and lunches at local venues will be organised to bring together members and foster friendship among people who have a common interest in owning, collecting and restoring historic, classic and special vehicles.
Club members are open to suggestions about taking part in, organising and staging vehicle rallies, exhibitions, displays and other such events.
Members come from a variety of backgrounds and have a diverse range of skills, they are enthusiastic in both promoting the club and supporting the bush fire recovery process.
Club president Dave Britton is keen for the club and its members to play a role in helping local organisations and businesses by encouraging members to bring their cars to community events and similar activities.
Dave would also like to promote community awareness of the value, interest and acceptance of historic vehicles as part of our national heritage.
